We are very proud to announce that we will be joined by the amazing Film Orchestra on our opening night, 15th November. The Film Orchestra is the only one of its kind in the country and we are lucky to have them based here in Worcester.
The Film Orchestra (& Chorus) is an ever-increasing collection of musicians looking to form a ensemble(s) to perform original music written specifically for film, TV & radio. They want to perform the music at the highest level as possible, using as near to the original orchestration as possible. They have over 100 members with ages ranging from 12 to 82 playing a full range of instruments.
Last week, they played their first performance at the Swan Theatre which was close to a sell out. The audience was treated to a variety of film soundtracks, ranging from The Dambusters to Pirates of the Caribbean presented by composer, Hilgrove Kenrick, who introduced each piece with some film history and well placed humour. Just prior to the event, TFO director, Jane Whittle, was wished good luck by the Society of Composers & Lyricists in Los Angeles, US and since, has enjoyed great media coverage in the local newspapers, radio and tv!
More details will come soon, but in the meanwhile, why not show your support by following The Film Orchestra on one of their social pages?
